Exodus House

Located just off 23rd street in Oklahoma City the Exodus House is a key part of Criminal Justice and Mercy Ministries. Its mission is to offer opportunities for ex-offenders to have a healthy, nurturing, and accountable environment where they may begin their life again. Individuals are accepted into the program while still incarcerated through an application process. They have individualized treatment plans, and upon completion of the 6-month program they can take all furniture and household goods to their new residence. While living at Exodus House, residents are responsible for paying their utilities. Rent is not charged but money is collected each month and deposited into a savings account and returned to them upon leaving or graduating. Exodus Houses currently have a 1.7% recidivism rate over the past 4 years.

  • Our church provides meals once a month for their Tuesday night meetings- this is a great way to plug in and make a difference.

  • We also plant flowers every spring at the apartment complex.

  • New residents come periodically and need help with adjusting back to the real world. We help them get set up in their new apartment, get groceries.

  • This is a great place to donate household items and supplies that are in good condition.

Mentor Opportunity: Each new resident that moves in needs a mentor. Mentors are someone who can walk alongside the resident and offer spiritual and practical life and daily living guidance. A mentor should be someone who can spend quality time with the resident. Please let us know you are interested!

New Cov provides dinner for the Exodus House residents and staff on the third Tuesday of each month. We are looking for small groups, Sunday School classes, or individuals to take on one month a year to do this. If your group can help provide a meal, or if you would like to help serve the meal at this month’s dinner, please contact Kathy Sewell at kathysewell@gmail.com or 405-740-5470.

The meal can be homemade, semi-homemade, restaurant made or a combination. We typically have between 15 to 20 folks to feed. Drinks aren’t necessary, but are definitely appreciated. Dessert is requested, but not a deal breaker if you can’t get that handled. Groups can stay to serve and visit with the residents, or food can be dropped off! The meal should be delivered to The Exodus House (433 NW 25th St ste. 4, Oklahoma City, OK 73103) by 5:45.

The residents typically work at least 40 hours a week, they must attend several AA meetings along with church on Sunday & Thursday. On Tuesdays they have this community meeting and sponsor churches provide the dinner to help make their week easier.
