Upcoming Mission Opportunities

Exodus House Needs

  • We are looking for a group or individual to provide dinner for 8-10 people on Tuesday, September 16th!

New Cov provides dinner for the Exodus House residents and staff on the third Tuesday of each month. If your group can help provide a meal, or if you would like to help serve the meal at this month’s dinner, please contact Kathy Sewell at kathysewell@gmail.com or 405-740-5470.

The meal can be homemade, semi-homemade, restaurant made or a combination. This month we have 8-10 folks to feed. Drinks aren’t necessary, but are definitely appreciated. Dessert is requested, but not a deal breaker if you can’t get that handled. Groups can stay to serve and visit with the residents, or food can be dropped off! The meal should be delivered to The Exodus House (433 NW 25th St ste. 4, Oklahoma City, OK 73103) by 5:45.

The residents typically work at least 40 hours a week, they must attend several AA meetings along with church on Sunday & Thursday. On Tuesdays they have this community meeting and sponsor churches provide the dinner to help make their week easier.

  • The Exodus House is currently in need of a passenger van and a box truck. The van is used almost daily to transport the residents and the one they had has finally reached the point of no return. The box truck is used to collect donations which are then utilized by the residents when they graduate the program and move out of the apartments. It is typically used at least once a week. Roughly $8,000 has been raised for the truck so far and an additional $15,000 is needed.

If you know of a 15 passenger van for sale at a reasonable price or, better yet, that someone would like to donate for a tax write off, please let me know. The van just cratered so there are no donations for it to this point.

If you feel called to donate towards the box truck or the van donations may be made to the following:

    Exodus House OKC

    433 NW 25th St.

    #4/office

    OKC, OK 73103

*Please write either van or box truck on the memo line. If you don’t have a preference as to how your donation is used you may write van/or truck on the memo line.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration to this ministry that changes lives daily! People grow closer to Christ and learn how to live sober and responsible lives while being allowed to live rent free for 6 months.

  • On October 18th The Exodus House will be having its annual reunion. This event is an awesome opportunity to witness the fruits of all who work to support those who’ve been incarcerated and needed to learn how loved they were in order to turn their lives around and become upstanding citizens who contribute to society and enhance the lives of their friends and family.

One of the things that has become a favorite for those who come back to visit for the day and pour into the current residents is a raffle. There are sponsors and supporters who will purchase a great number of the raffle tickets so we do like to have a few nice baskets of items, but we also like to have a wide selection of individual items. Regifted items are welcome as long as it isn’t something partially used up or that shows that it’s being regifted.

Ideas for the raffle items are:

    • Themed basket

    • A home decor item that you’re ready to re-gift. A body care set you’ve never opened and will never use. Art you’re ready to part with.

    • Bath and body care products, candles, small potted house plants, holiday decor,

    • Gift cards for very casual (think fast food) restaurants.

    • Any kind of gift cards for as long it’s a well known chain. ie: Walmart, Amazon, Target

  • The CJAMM (Criminal Justice and Mercy Ministries) fundraising and awareness event will be held on October 23rd. The Exodus House is one of CJAMM’s ministries that New Cov is quite involved with.

Included in the evening’s events is a silent auction and we are looking for Fall themed ‘baskets’ and Fall wreaths for that. If you and/or your group can provide a basket or wreath CJAMM will be oh so grateful.

Reach out to Kathy Sewell if you can help in any way! kathysewell@gmail.com, 405 740-5470.
