Edmond Community Thanksgiving Dinner

The Edmond Thanksgiving Dinner began in 1981 when one family (Frank and Pat Paradise) of First Presbyterian Church decided to hold a dinner at the church and to invite others from the community.

Soon several churches were involved in the Edmond Community Thanksgiving Dinner.  Today, seven churches are actively involved in making sure that the Edmond Community Thanksgiving Dinner is a success:

  • First Presbyterian

  • New Covenant

  • Southern Hills

  • St. John’s Catholic Church

  • Acts 2 United Methodist Church

  • Bahai Church

  • St. Luke’s in Edmond

The dinner would not be possible without the support of many individuals, businesses, and volunteers! Two years ago (before the pandemic), 3500 meals were served.

New Covenant always cooks several turkeys in our kitchen.  Volunteers are needed to prepare the turkeys on the Monday before Thanksgiving, and to deliver the turkeys to First Presbyterian where all food is stored until Thanksgiving Day.  New Covenant also prepares turkey stuffing in our kitchen.

Volunteers are greatly needed on Thanksgiving Day at UCO where this mission outreach is held. Volunteers opportunities include: waiting tables, washing dishes, bringing meals to residences, preparing food that morning, serving the food, clean-up, setting up tables and stations.
