Global Week of 24/7 Prayer

Here at New Covenant, we hold the conviction, powerfully defined by Walter Wink, that "history belongs to the intercessors, who believe (and pray) the future into being.”

The week of September 6th through September 13th, New Covenant is excited to join in the Global Week of 24/7 Prayer, united with Christians all over the world to call on the name of Jesus, petitioning God to move powerfully and freshly in our homes, city, country, and across our world.

This week of prayer aims to spend those 7 days interceding through prayer for every hour of the week, 168 hours of prayer. As we enter into this intention, we invite YOU to sign up for one or multiple thirty-minute time slots to pray that week.

We know for some of you, the idea of praying for 30 minutes straight is daunting enough to decline this ask immediately. We encourage you to set aside any hesitations and say yes. We will have different prayer prompts to help guide you during your time of prayer, including a prayer guide for praying as a family with children and students. With the resources we will have available, an hour of prayer will come more easily.

Throughout the week, we will have an intentional prayer room set up in the Chapel from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm daily with different stations to guide you during your time of prayer. During the time slots between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am, we ask that you be in prayer wherever you are during that time, or use the 24 Hour Prayer Room on the far southwestern corner of the Discipleship Center, available to use with keypad access. The access number is 0431, as in Acts 4:31: "After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly."

You can sign up for one or multiple time slots by following the link below or stopping by the Connection Point on Sunday.

We are so humbled and grateful that God is continuing to do amazing things in and through our church family. We believe this week of intentional prayer will be another marker of the magnificent nearness and work of our mighty God!

Senior Pastor Jay Smith will begin a series teaching through 1 Corinthians.  The way of Jesus is THE BETTER WAY. On Sunday mornings, starting September 13 and running through November 22, New Covenant will journey through Paul's first letter to the Corinthians as we discover what THE BETTER WAY of Jesus looks like when lived out among real people in real places facing real challenges.

A lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs will be served in the Activity Center. We'll have water inflatables, a bounce house, a dunk tank with some familiar faces, and fun for everyone outside in our north parking lot. Monday Morning Women’s Bible Study

Ladies, mark your calendars for the start of our Fall Bible study beginning September 14 - October 26 (7 weeks). We meet at 9:30 am on Monday mornings in the Fireside Room.

You will need to purchase the study book from your favorite Christian book store or Amazon.  He’s Where The Joy Is, Getting to Know the Captivating God of the Trinity, by Tara-Leigh Cobble, will give us a deeper understanding of the Trinity.  This is a concept that is very hard to grasp with our finite minds. It’s true that some things are beyond our complete knowledge, but they aren’t beyond our partial knowledge. So, Tarah Leigh states, “we’ll make it our aim to know the highest percentage of what our minds can possibly grasp.  After all, knowing Him is the path to joy, and I want as much joy as possible.”

What a welcoming group of friends you will find as a bonus.  So, if you have never done a Bible Study, fear not!  Everyone is learning together.  For more information, contact Jamie Crooch at (405) 834-6150.

Ladies, if you’re looking to make a connection with others, please join us on Monday mornings as we gather for study (not too much homework), prayer, and fellowship.

You will find us to be a friendly, welcoming group of ladies of all ages! We always kick off our fall study with a potluck brunch, to meet each other and introduce our new study. Please join us on Monday, August 24, at 10:00 am in the Hospitality Room.

This fall we will be reading The Well-Watered Woman by Gretchen Saffles. Using Scripture, along with her own personal story of surrender, Gretchen provides spiritually hungry women with tangible tools to not only know Jesus more, but also to live a life that thoroughly enjoys Him, seeks Him, and follows Him into freedom.

Books may be purchased at Amazon, Mardel, or any Christian Book Store! Questions? Contact Debi Collett at Debcollett24@gmail.com  or 405-822-4151.

Whiz Kids Leader Training

New Cov will have the Whiz Kids Leader Training for all of the volunteers that are signed up to help lead Whiz Kids this fall on Thursday, September 17th from 4-6pm in the Chapel!

If you haven’t heard the news yet, New Covenant is going to be a Whiz Kids site for our neighbors at Orvis Risner! Whiz Kids is a faith-based reading tutoring program with a proven track record for dramatically improving the reading levels of the students participating in their program!

Whiz Kids at New Covenant will take place on Thursdays all across our campus, after school, starting at 4 pm and ending around 6 pm.

We are still in a place where we have a few volunteer needs:

  • We need TUTORS, Substitute Tutors, & help with the snack team. NO matter if you can commit to one week a month or every week, we can use you!

  • We need ONE MORE site coordinator. These folks are the people who make Whiz Kids here at New Covenant run. We already have three folks committed to help in this regard, but as the adage goes, “many hands make light work.” We think ONE MORE would be the sweet spot.

If you are ready to sign up to help, you can do that here:

So, Tarah Leigh states, “we’ll make it our aim to know the highest percentage of what our minds can possibly grasp.  After all, knowing Him is the path to joy, and I want as much joy as possible.”

What a welcoming group of friends you will find as a bonus.  So, if you have never done a Bible Study, fear not!  Everyone is learning together.  For more information, contact Jamie Crooch at (405) 834-6150.

One Service: July at New Cov

WORSHIP at 10:00AM
This July, in the spirit of unity and shared mission, New Covenant will come together for one combined worship service every Sunday at 10:00am. It’s a chance for both of our services to worship side by side—one church, one time, one heart. We believe this month will be a powerful time of connection, celebration, and renewed purpose.

NC Kids will have Kids’ Church at 10am and Sunday School at 11am.
NC Students will join worship at 10am and have programming at 11am.
Adult Sunday Schools will meet either before or after the 10:00 service, so check in with your leader to find out when your group will be meeting!

July is also Faith Promise missions month, where we’ll hear stories of God’s work through local and global missions.

Each Sunday will feature inspiring voices:
July 5: Pastor Jay & Colton Dudley, missionary in Guatemala
July 12: Lauren Miller, Coordinator of Mission 143
July 19: Cheri Weaver & WingsOK
July 26: WhizKids and Commitment Sunday

We hope you’ll make a plan to be part of this meaningful month—we can’t wait to worship with you!

Disciple Middle School Camp

Dates: July 22nd-25th

Location: Sky Ranch Cave Springs

Cost: $320

Camp is one of my favorite weeks of the year. It’s incredible to see students grow in their love for the Lord and for each other, while also having a ton of fun. Between powerful worship, teaching, small groups, and all the activities at Sky Ranch, this week consistently creates meaningful moments and lasting impact.

We would love for your student to be part of it this year, and we highly encourage them to invite friends. Friends who come will receive a discount, making it a great opportunity to bring someone along.

Please don’t let cost be the reason your student doesn’t attend. Scholarships are available for any student who needs financial assistance.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me at cblair@newcov.tv or 817-372-8232.

Whiz Kids Interest Meeting

Are you interested in helping New Covenant host the incredible literacy program Whiz Kids this fall? Join us for an Interest Meeting and lunch on Sunday, June 28th at 12:30pm in the Chapel following the 11:00am Worship Service! Make sure to RSVP for the meal by registering below!

New Covenant is becoming a Whiz Kids host church! This past December, for the first time, Edmond Schools were opened up to Whiz Kids host churches, and we jumped at the chance to partner with Orvis Risner Elementary, our neighbors to the east.

Whiz Kids is a one-on-one literacy tutoring and faith-based mentoring program led by volunteers who partner with elementary schools to close the academic opportunity gap by serving the whole child academically, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Their mission is simple: help students learn to read so they can read to learn. During the 2024-2025 school year, 92% of Whiz Kids students improved their reading scores.

In the past, we partnered with Bridgeway Church to help serve the school in their neighborhood, but now the opportunity is right here, and we need your help.

There is a financial cost to launch and sustain this ministry. One of the ways we care for students each week is by providing a light snack each week, and New Covenant will need to cover that cost. If you would like to financially support this ministry, you can give here: https://www.fellowshiponegiving.com/App/Form/e661cb0d-117b-43d3-a355-2c40545df8c1.

Beyond finances, our greatest need is people. To run this program well, we need 30 or more volunteers week to week. The bulk of those will be tutors, but we also need 2-3 people to lead the program itself and others to help with hospitality, food, and simply being present.

This is a tremendous opportunity for us to bless and care for our neighbors in a way that truly makes the love of Jesus known.

Serve Opportunity: Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma

On Thursday, June 25th we will be serving at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma starting at 1:30pm. We will meet at New Covenant’s south parking lot at 12:30 to pray together and then carpool to the Regional Food Bank (3355 S Purdue Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73179)!

Volunteers will do a variety of tasks: Backpacks for Kids, Pantry Boxes for Seniors, labeling bags, sorting produce or bread, and more, so this should be an easy volunteer opportunity for kids over 8, teens, and adults! A perfect way to serve as a family during the summer! Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. This is also a great way to serve one weekday afternoon per month! Upcoming dates to serve will be on the fourth Thursday each month.

Please let Barabara Perry know if you can help serve by June 17th by emailing yrrep3@cox.net as she must register each person at RFB, seven days prior to the volunteering date.  Let Barbara know if you are willing to drive others in your car.

The Food Bank distributes 50 million pounds of food each year, through its network of more than 1,300 community partners, in 53 counties in Oklahoma. What a fabulous and super-organized place to serve!

We hope you will consider joining this group, to help a great cause…fighting hunger in Oklahoma!
