Shiloh Dinner Thank You
New Covenant did it again. Last Friday, July 24, approximately 50 men, women and children from New Covenant came out in the 98 degree weather to serve dinner to a smiling crowd of Shiloh campers and their families. Although New Covenant has been providing these dinners for more than 10 years, they are never routine or ordinary. With well over 100 of our congregation donating, preparing and/or serving here’s what it takes to make a dinner for over 300 happen: 25 long tables, 25 tablecloths, 250 lbs. of ice, 250 bottles of water, 45 very large cans of vegetables, dozens of loaves of bread, child care, paper products for 350, gallons of tea and lemonade, a photographer, 50 servers, and hundreds of pieces of mouthwatering desserts (still a crowd pleaser). New Covenant provided all of it! Like last year, left overs were donated to the Exodus House whose residents had also helped serve at Shiloh. When they learned they were going to get fried chicken, all the sides and an assortment of desserts they were so excited and appreciative. So both ministries were touched by New Covenant’s generous spirit. As the evening waned, Shiloh staff commented that they love it that New Covenant always serves on the last day of camp for the summer because they know it will be plentiful, festive and bursting with God’s love. Oh yeah, another ingredient it takes to serve 300…a genuine servant’s heart.
